I am currently seeking employment in the Commercial Space industry.  I am a student at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, currently studying Commercial Space Operations with a concentration in Space Policy and Operations, and minoring in Human Factors as well as Flight Test and Simulation.

I have ten years of military experience, which has provided me with a vast array of professional skills generally useful in the office environment and years of leadership experience.

Director of Safety, Embry-Riddle MicroJet Program

August 2014 - February 2015

I was responsible for the creation and implementation of an occupational and flight operations safety program for the protection of approximately 20-30 volunteers involved in the redesign and construction of a Bede BD-5J personal jet aircraft.

  • Occupational Safety: I created a safety brief covering all significant aspects of hangar safety, given once per semester.  I am also in charge of maintaining the safety reporting system, scheduling safety seminars (5 minutes at the end of general meetings), and populating the safety bulletin board.

  • Flight Operations Safety: Due to the dangerous reputation of the BD-5J, this project requires a strong focus on making the aircraft safer to fly.  To that end, we are currently conducting a hazard analysis of safety-critical and failure-prone systems to develop mitigations, flight rules, and procedures as well as a Pilot's Operating Handbook.

Experimental Rocket Propulsion Laboratory Computational Fluid Dynamics Team Member
2013 - 2015

As part of a team with mixed levels of experience in CFD, I helped conduct simple analyses of the ERPL's HYDRA miniaturized liquid bipropellant rocket engine, corrected a flawed nozzle design in CATIA, and began conducting a simple analysis of a theoretical annular aerospike engine configuration using CFX as a solver.

Fuel Flow/System Safety/Command and Control Software Engineering Team Member

2013 - 2015

I helped design the tankage and plumbing systems for ERPL's HYDRA liquid bipropellant rocket engine.  I also helped design the entire test safety apparatus including a sandbag-reinforced blast wall and installed abort valves for a safe test-firing of the HYDRA engine.  Also, I helped design the overall software framework for the command and control of the testing apparatus.
